Before the finale in Burlington

I'm in a good mood:  my song is playing here in Burlington.

Community Field, home of the Burlington Bees:  beautiful and old school.

Why, yes, the Bees are golfing today before the game.

Shane Opitz has been promoted to Lansing today from Extended Spring Training, replacing the DL'd Jorge Vega-Rosado.  A profile of the newest Lugnut.

I love this LSJ gallery in the season preview.  Look at those pictures!

I wholeheartedly recommend that you read this Johnny Anderson piece on his TJ surgery.

The Lugnuts' runs scored this season, game to game:

3, 4, 4, 8, 6, 7, 3, 4, 5, 5, 3, 3, 3, 2, 0

There was that brief three-game series at Dayton (8, 6, 7) where the offense was in fine form.  Aside from that, though, there's nothing much to write home about.

Chris Hawkins is batting .346, Jon Berti's batting .293 and Kevin Pillar's at .288...

On the other hand, Markus Brisker (.171), Andy Burns (.213), Kellen Sweeney (.217), Kenny Wilson (.167) and K.C. Hobson (.190 after a three-hit debut) aren't doing so well.

On the bright side:

2, 2, 3, 0, 2, 4, 2, 5, 4, 4, 0, 0, 4, 0, 2

Those are the runs allowed by the pitchers this year, in case you're wondering why this team is 12-3.

Meanwhile, the Dunedin Blue Jays have caught fire and are now 12-2 this year. Marcus Knecht leads the Florida State League with 14 RBIs despite a .232 average, helped by batting .346 with runners on base (compared to a .133 average with the bases empty). Only Jake Marisnick has truly impressed so far among the 2011 Lugnuts alumni in Dunedin --

That is, if you don't count the perpetually awesome Kevin Nolan.  I'd promote Kev to Double-A in a heartbeat just to see if he could tread water near a .300 average with his consistent line drive singles to the gaps.  Then again, I'm biased.  He's one of the best guys I've met in baseball.

Drew Hutchison debuts tonight for the Blue Jays...
