Black, White, Brown, Grays

Who was the first African-American in baseball history?

Move over, Jackie Robinson.  Step aside, Fleet Walker.  (Don't go too far, Bud Fowler.)

According to this article in Slate, it was William White.  He was born a slave, later attended Brown University, and played one game at first base for the Providence Grays.
